Monster girl: Depression

Description

You know... sometimes you are blocked. You have to talk about what you're going through and you really can't put words into it. I have always tried to be open about who I am, what I like, what I do.. but this is too hard for me, too painful  and too personal so I can't go into details. please, just know that it's part of a cathartic process, a way to express with lines what I can't with words. I also didn't want to go for the gory/very dark monster sketch. I opted for something more symbolic

So this  femme presenting monster is quite the queen bitch!
I have asked my friends and sisters to interpret what they see when they look at it (one of my friend suffers from severe anxiety, but it's so different from mine, I find it fascinating).

So, I'm not going to explain in details what's going on. simply let you see the symbols I crammed into that one picture:

Bi-colours/duality: (I'll insist this one only has one meaning: good and bad mood in relative harmony. I mean it, relative. since this monster girl is chronic, this means it's recurring.. hence why I try to split it in two colours)

The crown
sharp teeth
lack of heart (if you notice well, the heart shaped hole has dark colour on it)
tainted/broken heart outside, (some linked it to the hand and claws that nearly crushed it but not yet)
blood coming from both mouth, heart-shaped hole, face
No eyes
Mirror on forehead
cape that goes along with the crown
mystic stuff happening around the head
sharp claws
four fingers (there again, it's more terrifying to have 4 fingers than 3 per say. but it could be deeper than that in my case)

these are the elements. Maybe this is speaking to you, maybe you can relate to this, maybe it says something very different to you. All of this is valid.  in my case, this is one son of a bitch to have and experience on the daily basis

I missed your initial post of this one. It reminds me of the work of Kazuma Kaneko in the Shin Megami Tensei series. I think its the rendering of symbols into 2 dimensional elements, that are in turn folded back into the design as motifs that work as purely formal elements that appeals to me. Ideas are rendered into abstract symbols and patterns that not only adorn the character, but also provide a sort of text. I think it imbues the image with a eerie dreamlike quality. I recently picked up a comic called Uzumaki by Junji Ito. He also uses symbols turned into formal elements, but then takes it a step futher and uses them to drive the narrative. Really creepy stuff, but powerful.
