Amazing friend : Malik (<3) I love you buddy. So so much

Last but not least ! Here is a gorgeous illustration that my friend Malik sent me. I met him through a french x-men rpg forum and he gave me along with the gang (David, Maddie, Lou) enough confidence to return to writing. He actually was a long time fan of Michael Broussard art (just like me)  and he made my wish come true. I don't know if it was my birthday or  Cristmas or both but anyway, it happened . well, it was his too somehow

so here we are, about a year later or so. And I've just received this beauty and I'm on the verge of crying ! It's incredible to be able to communicate one's ideas and visions to others and have them know what you want/ need to see. Yes, I know that this time I'm the one who got to explain who Asma was and what she did and what she meant to me and he translated it at the perfection !

Of all the elements that were discussed with it, I think it was this excerpt from a short story I wrote which struck a chord within Mr Broussard :

"You realize you can survive. You can endure the pain and make the best of it. You learn from your mistakes so you won't do the same again and on top of all, you are even more careful. All of this makes you stronger, all of this makes you a hero. It's not just the muscles or the powers but also the soul." 

that is what Asma said to OC daughter of Hank « Beast » McCoy who asked her what is a hero. Asma is not your typical « I can handle everything » kind of hero. She struggles a lot, she stumbles and falls and yet she always gets back up. In her very own universe she's the same and believes that what makes her a hero isn't how strong she actually is, but what she can bring to the world she's in. To her friends and « family », to herself and to the strangers she saves on a daily basis.

Her journey is a tough one, between who she truly is, who she is supposed to be, the rôle that was given to her and the one she would embrace ultimately. She has issues, she learns to live with them and through her mistakes, outbursts, temper-tantrums she will grow into a better person. That aside, she's your kick ass superhero who often screws-up but is better when working with others. <3 <3
